Charlie’s Pilates
Pilates is an effective and fun form of exercise which helps to improve core strength, flexibility, posture, breathing and body/mind co-ordination. After childbirth or through general aging, problems with the pelvic floor, pelvic joints, muscles and ligaments can develop. Losing this core stability and strength can create problems and lead to pain and injury during simple daily tasks or during exercise.
Examples of conditions or symptoms which are commonly experienced and can benefit from my services are :
Back pain , sacro-iliac or symphisis pubis pain
Tummy separation (rectus diastasis)
Light bladder leakage (stress incontinence) and pelvic floor weakness
Bladder or other pelvic organ prolapse
Pre/post gynaecological surgery
Post natal
There is little out there for women who would like to exercise in a specialised, educated and safe environment. Non-specific exercise programmes, some sports and even some Pilates exercises can create further problems and lead to a withdrawal from exercise. The importance and value of a personal, carefully monitored programme is paramount for building a firm, supportive pelvic floor and core stability.
Through research and experience I have adapted the Clinical Pilates techniques to ensure they provide a safe and effective form of exercise and rehabilitation for clients who otherwise may find can exacerbate their symptoms.
In a studio at home, I offer one on one sessions and small mat based classes using a variety of challenging and fun equipment . Home exercise programmes can be taught to ensure maximum gain from your treatment. Clients should leave well educated and have long term holistic management plans in place which can include lifestyle and dietary changes and other forms of appropriate exercise.
Charlie’s Pilates is so much more than an exercise class!
